Follow the yard rules.

Stay within the negotiated school boundaries.
Wear a hat while outside.

Treatment of People

Be courteous and friendly towards others.
Keep our school free from teasing, bullying, violence, harassment and discrimination.
Respect others and their rights.
Use language which does not offend others.

Communication

Speak to others using a respectful tone of voice and positive body language.

Treatment of Property

Respect the school and all property.
Keep our environment free from graffiti and vandalism.
Put rubbish in the bins.
Sharing and caring for school equipment.

Learning

Respect the rights of people to learn and teach.
Come to lessons prepared.
Participate in learning programmes.
Complete work in the negotiated time.

ACKNOWLSEGEMENT OF RESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOUR will be on a whole school, classroom and/or individual basis.

This may include:-
Stickers, stamps, certificates, verbal encouragement, smiles, handshakes, acknowledgment in school/class newsletters, school pin-up board, recognition at assemblies, free choice activities and recognition from other staff members, students and parents.

THE RESPONSE MADE TO IRRESPONSIBLE BEHAVIOUR WILL BE
Dependent on the developmental stage of the student and the frequency and severity of the behaviour.

Range of School Level Responses to Irresponsible Behaviour includes:-

  • Behaviour Rehearsal
  • Play Restrictions
  • Non-Participation in lesson/play - make up time/work missed
  • Communication with parents
  • Time-out in yard sit-out
  • Buddy Class
  • Bus travel restrictions
  • Behaviour change - plan implemented
  • Harassment grievance procedures
  • Take home
  • Police contact
  • Suspension, Exclusion, Expulsion
  • Arrange parent/teacher/student meeting and develop a Student Development Plan.

When Irresponsible Behaviour is on-going or severe:- a system level response may involve referral to regional support services, eg student attendance counsellor, or interagency referral manager.
