First Aid

Coonalpyn Primary School is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment for it staff, students, volunteers and visitors. We aim to provide accessible first aid facilities and support for all members of our school campus.

  • At Coonalpyn we provide a first aid room and equipment in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice for Occupational First Aid.
  • The First Aid Kit is located in the sick room and is clearly visible with appropriate signage.
  • Every staff member is required to complete an approved DECS First Aid Course every three years and this will be recorded on EDSAS
  • One member of our staff will be the designated first aid person and we will nominate a second person as an emergency. (Currently Sheryl & Brett)
  • At all times staff will be informed of up-to-date first aid information that is relevant.
  • A health management plan will be in place for those who qualify.
  • All accidents that occur on this site will be recorded in the first aid record book and an Accident/Incident Reporting and Investigation form will be filled out if necessary.
  • A report of accident / illness is to be sent home to parents, with a photocopy kept on file.
  • Stocks of first aid supplies will be kept up to date in the first aid kit as stated in the approved Code of Practice Occupational First Aid in the Workplace.
  • At Coonalpyn we ensure that a first aid room is available for use and that it is maintained.
  • We are an approved Asthma Friendly School
